International Estimates Price Jump for 2007 Engines

International Truck and Engine Corp. estimates that changes to their 2007 engine and vehicle chassis will result in a $5,000 to $6,000 increase to the base cost of their medium-duty trucks.

The changes are required to meet the 2007 EPA engine exhaust emission requirements and will include engine modifications, a larger cooling system and an exhaust after-treatment system with a diesel particulate filter. The cost of installed engines in their heavy-duty truck models is expected to go up $7,000 to $10,000 for 2007.
