International now offers an optional 3kw electrical power source on their medium-duty and severe-duty vehicles. The built-in source is capable of powering lights, tools, computers, refrigerators and other devices.

The new system is called Diamond Logic PowerPack 3. According to the manufacturer, it is surge free and is enclosed within the battery box where it does not take up valuable compartment space. The power source is controlled by the vehicle's multiplex electrical system and has the added benefit of keeping the batteries fully charged. Its approximate cost of $1,000 is less than many other generators and its use avoids the on-going expenses of fuel, lubricants and maintenance required for engine-driven generators.
