Danko Emergency Equipment of Snyder, Neb., announced it has designed several new wildland apparatus based on the Unimog 4x4 chassis. The company plans to display three of the rigs at the IAFC Fire-Rescue International Show in Dallas on Sept. 14-16.

The wildland pumpers feature 500gpm hydraulically driven pumps and Pneumax 150cfm CAFS with full-time pump-and-roll feature. Two of the units will have 800-gallon water tanks, while the third unit will have a flatbed body with a 1,200-gallon tank. They are equipped with remote-control monitors and preconnected hose lines on the front bumpers for fast attack. The cabs seat three people.

The Unimog was originally developed in Germany after World War II as a multipurpose, all-wheel-drive vehicle capable of serving in a variety of agricultural, construction, utility and other off-road applications. Many Unimog wildland pumpers have been used by the Bureau of Land Management in the Great Basin area of the western United States.
