Colorado Fire Mechanics Academy Set to Lead the Way

The Colorado Fire Mechanics Academy on July 31-Aug. 4 is set to lead the way in EVT education with a course schedule that includes many classes that are rarely found elsewhere.

This year's academy will be held in Greeley, Colo., and is sponsored by the Colorado Fire Mechanics Association. It has become a top-notch training event for fire mechanics and emergency vehicle technicians across the country.

Classes include maintenance training on engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, aerials, pumps and many other topics. Some of the hard-to-find classes include certification on SCBA maintenance; maintenance of various hydraulic extrication tools; and instruction covering breathing air compressors, radios and warning lights.

Technicians who are interested in advancing into supervisory or management positions can select classes on emergency fleet administration, funding, presentation skills and others.
