ABS Warning Light

Did you know that if the ABS warning light on the dash doesn't come on when the vehicle is started, or comes on and stays on, that the antilock braking system may not be working properly? Apparatus operators need to check this daily and report malfunctions.

The ABS warning light provides the easiest way to check system operation. On some systems, the warning light will come on for a few seconds when the vehicle is started, then go off and stay off. If the light doesn’t come on, it may mean a burned-out bulb or an electrical fault. If the light comes on and stays on, it may mean other problems. In either case, the operator can’t be assured the system is working properly without having it checked. Different systems may have different warning light sequences, and each department should be aware of how the ABS works on each vehicle.
