Seven Ferrara Pumpers Head to Ohio

Columbus (Ohio) Division of Fire commissioned seven custom pumpers from Ferrara Fire Apparatus as part of its ongoing three-year contract.

Columbus (Ohio) Division of Fire commissioned seven custom pumpers from Ferrara Fire Apparatus as part of its ongoing three-year contract with the apparatus manufacturer. This will bring Columbus' total number of Ferrara vehicles to 16: 15 pumpers and an air-light truck. Beyond the initial three-year agreement, Columbus hold renewal options for a fourth and fifth year.

Like the pumpers already in production, these next seven will be built on custom tilt-cab chassis with independent front suspension and Detroit Diesel series 60, 535-hp engines. The bodies are Ferrara's Ultimate stainless steel, featuring all 12-gauge body panels and compartments. Columbus Division of Fire designed the custom compartments on the bodies, including an L-shaped booster tank for extra-low hose bed and increased firefighter safety.

The first eight pumpers built by Ferrara for Columbus are nearing completion. The fire trucks can be seen while they are being built at www.ferrarafire.com/apparatus/_inproduction/index.html.
