HSC Names Keystone Sponsors

The Home Safety Council recently named Tyco Fire & Building Products and the National Fire Sprinkler Association as its 2007 Keystone Sponsors.

TFBP is a manufacturer of water-based fire suppression system components and the creator of the Rapid Response Home Fire Sprinkler System.

“We believe that home fire and burn safety starts with education," said Carmine Schiavone, the company’s vice president of marketing and sales. “The Home Safety Council is working diligently and effectively to put high-quality teaching materials into the hands of local public safety educators at no cost, or very low cost. That’s an important cause and one we want to help advance.”

The NFSA is a nonprofit international organization working toward widespread acceptance of competently installed and maintained automatic fire sprinkler systems in new and existing construction, from homes to high-rise buildings.

“With this renewed sprinkler industry support, we hope to sustain the Council’s leadership in home fire and burn safety education, helping HSC develop and distribute high quality teaching tools for fire and life safety educators across the country,” said NFSA President John Viniello.

By working with its other partners, the HSC is able to offer a variety of print and video teaching tools on home safety topics through the Expert Network, a free online resource for public safety educators. HSC’s home fire prevention efforts include a suite of new fire safety educational tools designed for all ages. Weekly Reader facilitates free delivery of the new fire safety materials to preschool, elementary and middle-school students, as well as to older adults in senior centers across the United States.

“We are very grateful to the National Fire Sprinkler Association and the Sprinkler Manufacturers Industry Fund for their support and generous donations that help fund our education and outreach programs,” said HSC President Meri-K Appy. “It is essential for people in every corner of every community to understand both the risk of home fires and the life-saving benefits of home fire sprinkler systems. Thanks to NFSA, we’re able to help increase that knowledge nationally.”
