The National Fire Protection Association is accepting applications for the Warren E. Isman Educational Grant until Sept. 15. Any established hazmat incident response team from a fire department, police department or other public-funded program may apply.
Preference will be given to teams that have demonstrated leadership qualities, communication abilities and training to the levels outlined in NFPA 472, Professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents, and NFPA 473, Competencies for EMS Personnel Responding to Hazardous Materials Incidents.
The NFPA will award a minimum of one $5,000 grant for one hazmat response team of up to five members. Grants must be applied toward registration for specialized training at a national hazmat conference. For more information, visit the NFPA Web site.
