Illinois Department Goes Paperless

Paperless reports, recycling programs and hybrid vehicles save energy costs for this department.

Our fire department has gone green in a number of ways. First we recycle all our paper and metal and plastics through our city recycling program. Plus we have gone paperless on all of our reports, both fire and EMS, which has cut down our paper consumption. We’ve also put in energy-efficient garage doors at all four of our stations to cut down on heat loss on the apparatus bays. We purchased two hybrid cars and a hybrid Ford Escape that our 8-hour staff drive to conserve fuel.
