Energy Plans Help Track Consumption

Over the last year, we have been tracking unused lighting that is being left on, for no benefit. We analyzed the amount of consumption and formulated a cost projection to capture the future cost.

We determined the highest consumers of electricity and worked out a reduction, and refitting plan to off set not only our present consumption, but future consumption as well.

The hardware of this plan was to install motion detectors for room lighting, gear locker rooms, hallway lights, exercise rooms, etc. One of the other ways, was to use the spring timers either 15 or 30 minutes to control lighting areas, closets, work shops, storage areas etc.

Another conservation measure, we have put into effect is our exterior parking area lighting. We have split the exterior lighting circuits to reduce every other exterior light to shut off around 2300 hours each night. Over the last three months of power bills we have seen a reduction to cover the cost of refitting. So from this point on its money in our pocket, not the utility.
