Fire chiefs ultimately are responsible for reducing the impact of fire on their communities. Chief Michael O’Brian of the Brighton (Mich.) Area Fire Authority shares with FIRE CHIEF Senior Editor Mary Rose Roberts details about his Fire-Rescue International session, "Beyond Operations: The Chief's Role in Reducing the Impact of Fire," in which he will discuss how chiefs can reduce the impact of fire on their communities and their organizations.
O’Brian will detail the types of programs that can be deployed and how chiefs can lobby for fire-safety activities with their staff and the residents they serve. This includes developing a mission statement, creating ordinances and pushing for aggressive enforcement with local officials.
