Texas Commissioners Meet to Discuss Volunteer Recruitment

From KGNS TV: Webb County (Texas) commissioners met with the county’s new assistant fire chief to discuss plans to recruit volunteers for the new department. Also the chief of the fire department submitted a list of equipment to purchase for the new department. The commissioners felt that the pricing was too high on the items so they decided to go out on bids for the equipment.

They did approve the purchase of a pumper for $255,000 and a 1,000 gallon brush truck for $167,000. Here are some of the items listed for purchasing that will have to wait for now. A foaming system, a four door 2009 Tahoe, to use as a command unit, coats, pants, helmets, boots and other equipment. Commissioners will meet again on Friday to discuss the actual plan on recruiting volunteers.
