Tucson Chief Resigns After Conflict with City Manager, Police Chief

Patrick Kelly conceded that he stepped on some toes recently in a memo seen as criticizing the police chief, but he said that's not the reason for his sudden resignation.

From KGUN: Tucson, Ariz.'s fire chief said friction with the city manager is the reason he decided to step down. The resignation leaves the city looking for a new leader for a critical department, just as it struggles to maintain services in a budget crunch.

Chief Patrick Kelly came to Tucson from a department near Orlando, Fla., about two years ago. He conceded that he stepped on some toes recently in a memo seen as criticizing the police chief, but he said that's not the reason for his sudden resignation. Kelly said he's resigning because, as he puts it, he was not on the same page as his boss, City Manager Mike Letcher.
