From: AZ Central.com: Asst. Chief Steve Randall has been named interim fire chief of the Scottsdale Fire Department. He is replacing Willie McDonald, who has taken the fire-chief position with the San Jose Fire Department. McDonald begins Aug. 2.

Randall's firefighting career spans almost 30 years in Scottsdale. He was the first person McDonald hired when the chief took office in July 2004.

A national recruitment for a fire chief's position is anticipated to begin in August.
