Tragedy struck the Sissonville (W.Va.) Volunteer Fire Department on Oct. 1. In less than five minutes, the department’s main station burned down in a catastrophic fire. The cause has been determined to be electrical in origin, and the loss far exceeds $1.2 million. In addition to the station, they lost their first out engine, first-out rescue, a tanker, and a UTV search-and-rescue vehicle, along with over $300,000 in portable equipment.

A campaign has been started to nominate the department for ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. While not a residential house, the station served as a “house” to the community and to the department’s “family” of 40 active members.

If you would like to help in the Sissonville Fire Department’s effort to rebuild their house so they can continue to serve the community, support the campaign to nominate them for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
