Ex-Mass. Fire Chief Pleads Guilty of EMT Fraud

Henry Michalski Jr. was sentenced to a year of probation after pleading guilty Tuesday in Salem Superior Court to perjury, attempted obstruction of justice and violating the state emergency service laws.

From the Boston Herald: The director of an EMT training course who was formerly fire chief in two Massachusetts towns has pleaded guilty to submitting false records for classes he never conducted and then lying about it to a grand jury.

Prosecutors say the 63-year-old former Middleton and Ipswich fire chief lied to a grand jury about his involvement a widespread scandal in which police officers were being recertified despite not taking the proper EMT refresher courses. Read the entire article here.
