NVFC Seeks Input for Standards Guide

The National Volunteer Fire Council is working with the National Fire Protection Association to create a standards guide for the fire service.

The National Volunteer Fire Council is working with the National Fire Protection Association to create a standards guide for the fire service. The guide will examine four major NFPA standards to offer clarification and provide manageable steps a department can implement to work toward the goal of adoption of these standards.

The NVFC would like to profile departments that have been successful in working toward compliance for the following standards:

  • NFPA 1001, Firefighter Professional Qualifications
  • NFPA 1720, Organization and Deployment of Fire Suppression Operations, Emergency Medical Operations and Special Operations to the Public by Volunteer Fire Departments
  • NFPA 1500, Fire Department Occupational Safety and Health Program
  • NFPA, Selection, Care, and Maintenance of Protective Ensembles for Structural Firefighting and Proximity Firefighting

E-mail Allison Moore at amoore@nvfc.org by Friday, Jan. 27 if your department is interested in highlighting its efforts to utilize these standards.
