The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation will host its 29th annual memorial weekend Oct. 2–3. The NFFF will stream both the candlelight vigil and the memorial service on the Web.

The NFFF already has posted the first video on YouTube. It features Engine 62 of the Loveland-Symmes Fire Department in Ohio. The rig, decorated with images of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, was on display at the 2009 Memorial Weekend. Chief Otto Huber describes how it is a mobile billboard for the foundation.

The NFFF also has posted video from last year in which Executive Director Ron Siarnicki describes the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial. While shooting this story, John Graber, a retired firefighter from the Chicago Fire Department, walked up to the Memorial with his family. He soon found the names of former colleagues on the Memorial’s plaques. NFFF’s Cathy Hedrick, who lost her firefighter son Kenny, also talks about the meaning of the memorial.
