Texas Volunteer Chief Dies After Cancer Battle

Marvin Dewayne Brewer spent 30 years with the Levelland Volunteer Fire Department, the last eight of them as chief.

From the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal: Levelland (Texas) Chief Marvin Dewayne Brewer died Saturday after a battle with cancer. He was 51.

Brewer spent 30 years with the Levelland Volunteer Fire Department, the last eight of them as chief.

Brewer was diagnosed in February with glioblastoma, a grade-4 tumor on the left side of his brain — the same type of tumor that Sen. Ted Kennedy had.
