Calif. Chief Credited with Volunteer-Recruitment Success

But the Motion Fire sparked an increase in volunteer support. Now 20 men and women are on call.

From KRCR TV: When Chief Sandy Young took command of the Keswick (Calif.) Fire Department two years ago, the department had four or five volunteers.

But the Motion Fire sparked an increase in volunteer support. Now 20 men and women are on call, making Station 53 one of only a few stations in Shasta County that have filled their allotted number of firefighters.
