IAFF Reps on the Ground to Assess Mo. Tornado Damage

Second VP Woolbright encouraged any member who sustained damage to his or her home as a result of the tornado to contact him and to fill out an IAFF Disaster Relief form.

From the IAFF: Second District Vice President Mark Woolbright and Missouri State Council of Firefighters President Tony Kelley are on the ground in Joplin, Mo., where a tornado has killed more than 116 people and destroyed homes, fire stations, businesses, schools and a hospital.

Woolbright encouraged any member who sustained damage to his or her home as a result of the tornado to contact him and to fill out an IAFF Disaster Relief form.

Meanwhile, a small group of IAFF 2nd District fire fighters are working to help those Local 2618 members who lost their homes salvage some personal items. Additionally, a deluge of firefighter assistance has already poured into Joplin. Joplin Local 2618 President John Corey says that they currently do not need any more help, but that will likely change once the scope of operations moves from rescue and recovery mode to the clean-up phase.
