IAFC Prepares Defense Against Private-Ambulance Providers

In recent weeks, both local fire chiefs and national organizations have come forward to share information about the activities of American Medical Response (AMR).

The Metropolitan Fire Chiefs Association (Metro Chiefs) and the IAFF in collaboration with the IAFC have developed important information for fire chiefs to alert them of increasingly aggressive efforts by a private ambulance provider to replace fire-based EMS in metro-area communities.

In recent weeks, both local fire chiefs and national organizations have come forward to share information about the activities of American Medical Response (AMR), a private ambulance provider. The information alert to chiefs draws on feedback and experiences of Metro-area fire chiefs and fire service organizations that have been approached or provided proposals by the company. The document shares the tactics and messaging myths being used to try to sway local communities away from fire-based EMS.
