From the Herald-Dispatch: Huntington (W.Va.) Mayor Kim Wolfe will hire a consultant firm to perform a comprehensive review and analysis of the operations of the Huntington Fire Department.
Wolfe recently met with International Association of Fire Fighters for more than six hours to discuss safety concerns that have surfaced under the leadership of Fire Chief Creig Moore. The union last month issued a 10-point summary of findings against Moore at the same time that it took a vote of no confidence against the chief.
The proposal was welcomed by Moore, who went over several operational changes he has made within the department since he was hired in November 2009.
Moore said two key changes he has made involve requiring the incident commander of a structure fire to remain in their vehicle and restricting the department's Rescue 11 vehicle to only certain vehicle accident calls.
