Houston Fire Station to Install Solar-Powered Emergency Generator

The Solar Power Adaptive Container for Everyone (SPACE) will be able to provide emergency power to service small power-consuming devices such as radios, communication equipment, battery chargers, electric wheelchairs and other medical equipment.

From Ultimate Clear Lake: Houston Fire Department Fire Station No. 71 soon will be outfitted with a Solar Power Adaptive Container for Everyone (SPACE), an emergency solar-powered generator designed by University of Houston School of Architecture faculty and students.

SPACE will be able to provide emergency power to service small power-consuming devices such as radios, communication equipment, battery chargers, electric wheelchairs and other medical equipment. It also can act as solar-powered offices, service centers or storage when not being used in an emergency.
