Gallatin to Hire 15 New Firefighters with Grant Award

This was the second time the city had applied for the federal grant, which was awarded in the amount of $1.5 million. The funding will increase the total number of people working in the department by nearly 25%.

From The Tennessean: The Gallatin (Tenn.) Fire Department recently received a SAFER grant that will allow the department to pay the salary and benefits of 15 new firefighters for two years. Those firefighters will staff the city’s new fire hall when it opens.

This was the second time the city had applied for the federal grant, which was awarded in the amount of $1.5 million. The funding will increase the total number of people working in the department by nearly 25%.

The city’s fourth fire hall is currently under construction with an anticipated completion date of August.
