Freetown Voters Approve Chief's Vehicle, Longevity Pay
From the Herald News: Chief Gary Silvia will receive a new Ford Explorer, after the measure was approved at town meeting Monday.
Last year, officials would not budge at Silvia's bid for a new vehicle. But during the budget planning process this year, Selectmen Chairman Lawrence Ashley said he traveled with Silvia around town during the historic March floods. The brakes on the chief's old Ford Explorer — which is a 1998 model with almost 200,000 miles on it — felt as though they would fail, Ashley said.
