Exeter Fire Department Look at Outside Billing Options

The Exeter (N.H.) Fire Department is looking at New England Medical Billing, a third-party billing service based out of Massachusetts.

From SeaCoast Online: The Exeter (N.H.) Fire Department is exploring the possibility of outsourcing its ambulance billing.
The department currently is looking at New England Medical Billing, a third-party billing service based out of Massachusetts.

The company charges 4.5% of collected fees, but the Seacoast Fire Chief Mutual Aid Association is working on a request for proposal that seeks a discounted rate for area departments.

In 2010, the department collected $447,755 in ambulance fees. Based on the department's 2010 calls, New England Medical Billing estimates the town would see an annual income of $598,000 if the company performed the department's billing. That number takes into account the 4.5% fee the billing agency is paid. That would be an additional $150,245 in revenue. Read the entire article here.
