Corvallis, Ore., Goes Solar for New Fire Station

The 15-kW photovoltaic solar system at Fire Station No. 4 is capable of generating enough electricity to supply more than half of the station’s power demand. It also will provide the public with an opportunity to view solar voltaic electricity generation at the site and online though a Web based monitoring system.

From the Statesman Journal: Corvallis has turned the switch on its first city-sponsored solar project with the help of grants from Pacific Power’s Blue Sky customers and the Energy Trust of Oregon.

The 15-kW photovoltaic solar system at Fire Station No. 4 is capable of generating enough electricity to supply more than half of the station’s power demand. It also will provide the public with an opportunity to view solar voltaic electricity generation at the site and online though a Web based monitoring system.

In Oregon, Blue Sky has provided financial support to 32 projects across the state, primarily solar. Also, the City of Corvallis has been a multi-year supporter of renewable energy through the Blue Sky program.
