Tell Us Your Sandy Recovery Stories, Lessons Learned

Though Superstorm Sandy has passed, departments in the Northeast still are stuggling with cleanup efforts, while residents look for food and shelter. Indeed the storm' true impact might not be known for some time.

As the days and weeks ensue, we will learn more. We'd like to hear from our readers about how their communities were affected by the storm, and what worked and what didn't in your evactuation, response and cleanup efforts. We want to hear your stories, and see your pictures and videos. Please share them in the comment box below; on FIRE CHIEF's FacebookTwitter, or LinkedIn pages; or via e-mail. We'll share as many of your stories as possible.

The IAFC also has created an online storm response and recovery resource to support communities as they recover from the hurricane. It includes:

  • Links to federal agency resources on Hurricane Sandy
  • Positions, resources and reports on key issues such as mutual aid, responder and community safety, discouraging self-dispatch and more
  • An opportunity to contribute your department SOPs and resources via IAFC KnowlegeNet.
