Washington Fire Mechanics Organize Workshop
The Washington State Fire Mechanics Association is making final arrangements for its 2006 Fire Mechanic's Workshop in Yakima, Wash., on September 11-15. The workshop features classes, a vendor show, social events and the group's popular motorized creeper drags.
Classes are aimed at all levels of fire mechanics and include instruction on aerial dynamics, Cummins engines, pump testing, Allison transmission preventive maintenance, ground ladder testing, generator maintenance, Darley midship pump maintenance, MSA breathing apparatus user maintenance, Pierce foam systems and many other subjects.
After classes, students can participate in several social activities. Monday night includes a hospitality session where everyone can meet and talk. Wednesday night includes a barbecue dinner and the creeper drag races. A vendor show is scheduled for Thursday afternoon, followed by a banquet dinner in the evening. All scheduled meals are included in the registration fee.
Students who want to take the EVTCC exams may do so on Friday morning if they have registered in advance with the EVTCC office.
