UPF Introduces Skid-Mount Tank, Body

United Plastics Fabricating Inc. introduced the Defender S-Series skid-mounted tank and body unit at the Fire Department Instructors Conference in Indianapolis.

The Defender S-Series combines a 200-gallon water tank with two 6.5-foot-long compartments that install simply into a pick-up truck bed. The compartments have gull-wing doors that raise for full access. Each compartment has over 20 cubic feet of space and can be equipped with optional shelving trays. The tank has dual fill towers to allow safe filling from the ground on either side of the vehicle. The unit is designed to slide into any manufacturer's standard 8-foot long bed with a payload capacity of 4,300 pounds.

"We are very pleased with the interest in the unit. The booth traffic was amazing. We sold a unit at the show and the requests for quotes and literature have been coming in daily. We are very pleased with the response," said Bill Bruns, vice president sales and marketing for UPF.

"Our R&D department, along with our new products committee, put a lot of time and effort to create this unit. It was a group effort, and this product exemplifies what UPF is all about. As a firefighter, the unit looks great, and the response from firefighters tells me we did it right," said Joe Lingel, president and CEO.
