INDIANAPOLIS — Transportation Safety Technologies (TST) will showcase its Touch Screen 850 control system inside Life Line Emergency Vehicles at FDIC this week. The laptop-sized system manages power distribution from the chassis throughout the vehicle, said Kirk Knobel, the company’s sales and marketing manager.
“The touch screen controls all the lights, sirens, O2 tanks, the lights inside the module — everything about that ambulance it can control,” Knobel said.
Knobel said the touch screen acts as the ambulance’s switch panel and includes customizable screens and buttons, a Duramux electrical system, built-in LED diagnostics, gauges, and meter-style displays and camera, GPS and DVR options. He said integration of all vehicle controls into one device simplifies operations and lets users activate or deactivate systems with the touch of a button.
“So when ambulance crews get on scene and shifts into park, the system automatically shuts down systems so that they can hop out of the truck and walk away from it and not worry about whether they turned off lights and internal systems,” Knobel said.
It also manages power loads, which can be programmed by operators who can determine system priority and timing, Knobel said.
“If a truck is on scene and the voltage starts to dip to a dead battery [the system] automatically starts turning off systems,” he explained.
The system will be on display at FDIC Booth 3112.
