TFT Introduces High-Flow Intake Valve
The new Jumbo BIV from TFT features an oversize waterway and triple surface coatings to produce a corrosion-resistant ball intake valve that can deliver 2,000gpm with only 3psi friction loss.
TFT now offers a remote-control version of its Jumbo Ball Intake Valve.
According to TFT, the new Jumbo BIV’s 5.25-inch waterway is the answer to repeated requests for higher flows from customers who are currently using the company's top selling BIV. Although TFT engineers nearly doubled the standard waterway size when they designed the Jumbo BIV, they added less than 1 inch in height and 1.5 inches in length.
The triple-coating process used on the valve helps ensure long life under tough operating conditions.
“We’ve triple-coated the BIV ever since it was introduced back in 2002,” said Rod Carringer, vice president of sales and marketing at TFT. “Not only do we rely on our unique poly-impregnation process, but we also hard-coat anodize and powder-coat finish the valves for additional protection against harsh environments. Then we used stainless-steel components on the valve’s wet side, as an extra layer of protection.”
The new Jumbo BIV’s 30° elbow swivels 360°, allowing hose connections from any direction with minimal kinks and coupling stress. The valve also has a position indicator that lets the operator know if the valve is opened, closed or somewhere in between. The valve handwheel, which can be installed on either the left or right side, takes more than seven turns to fully close, which meets the NFPA slow-close requirements.
The unit is backed by a five-year product guarantee. For more information, call TFT at 800-348-2686 or visit the company's Web site at www.tft.com.
