SVI Trucks Adopts Advanced Design Software

SVI Trucks now uses an advanced three-dimensional design program to produce its line of custom rescue, hazmat, command and other specialized emergency vehicles. The new program allows faster design cycles, more accurate equipment placement and higher quality products.

Prior to implementation of the new program, SVI engineers were finding it difficult to fit all the equipment in very tight places using two-dimensional design software. This meant that they might have to rework a truck body after manufacture and assembly. This was costly to the company and delayed customer delivery time.

SVI collaborated with Avatech Solutions and began implementation of a new three-dimensional mechanical design technology using Autodesk Inventor and Vault. This allowed the SVI to see immediate improvements that reduced design time, easily detected interferences before they occurred and facilitated mounting equipment.
