South Santa Clara Adds to Maintenance Fleet

Our new Fire Equipment Service Unit (or Service Unit) is a 2009 Dodge 550 4x4 diesel chassis w/PTO, carrying a IMT 11 foot service build up w/rear platform. Attributes include 5,000 lbs hydraulic crane w/hydraulic outriggers, hydraulic air compressor w/oiler and 50ft hose reel , Welder/Generator, 8 drawer mechanics tool box, Oxy/Acet tanks, and full lighting.


This unit was designed and built to support the mobile equipment needs of our department which consists of 4 Type 1 Pierce Fire Engines; 2 3000 gal Pierce water tenders; 1 Van Pelt Ladder Truck; 1 type 1 O.E.S urban interface pumper; 1 Heavy Rescue Trailer; 1 Breathing Support Trailer; 1 F-550 Stakeside Logistics Support Truck; 1 Fire Chief’s Command Vehicle; 1 EMS Paramedic Squad Truck and 2 utility vehicles.


The South Santa Clara County Fire District realizes the importance of pro-active preventative maintenance to make immediate and on-site repairs in our continuing efforts to maximize the usage life of our Emergency Response Fleet and the new Service Unit will play a critical role in being able to provide immediate and full-scale repairs to all of the vehicles in our fleet.


The South Santa Clara County Fire District operates 4 stations, providing emergency services to 260 square miles of the unincorporated areas of Gilroy, San Martin, and Morgan Hill.
