Smeal Delivers Foam Pumper to Charlotte

The Charlotte Fire Department specified a Smeal pumper with a 1,000-gallon water tank and 300-gallon foam tank.

The Charlotte (N.C.) Fire Department now runs a Smeal pumper equipped with a foam system and large water and foam concentrate tank to handle flammable liquid fires.

The new unit is built on a Spartan Gladiator chassis and is equipped with a Waterous 1,500-gpm midship pump and Williams around-the-pump foam injection system. A 1,000-gallon water tank allows a stand-alone initial attack and a 300-gallon foam tank provides plenty of concentrate for sustained operations. Other specs include an Akron Apollo monitor and 10kw Cummins Onan generator.

Charlotte also took delivery of two Smeal pumpers with similar specs, but smaller water and foam tanks. (Hyperlink to Recent Deliveries story)
