Spaulding County Designs Service Facility on Wheels

Spaulding County, Ga., operates this stand-up van body shop truck to provide a mobile service facility with tools, parts, electrical power and compressed air.

The Spaulding County (Ga.) Fire Department designed a support services unit that gives it a mobile service facility with a stand-up interior workspace.

The unit is built on a Ford F-550 chassis with a Stahl van body. The body interior has a large open floor area with storage capacity for equipment, tools, parts and supplies. The vehicle is equipped with a 3kw inverter system for electrical power, an air compressor and a 1,000-pound crane in the rear of the body to provide a complete shop on wheels.

The overall vehicle specs are based on the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Highway Emergency Response Operator design and include such safety features as emergency warning lights and reflective striping.
