Pierce Opens Plant Expansion

Pierce officially opened the new manufacturing plant expansion at its Grand Chute, Wis., facility on April 20. Congressman Mark Green and Wisconsin State Representative John Gard spoke at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which was attended by local officials, Pierce and Oshkosh Truck Corp. employees and component suppliers.

The expansion added 125,000 square feet to the plant and will provide additional capacity to meet the growing demand for fire, rescue and homeland security apparatus. Construction began in July 2005, and Pierce began moving production lines into the facility in December.

"No one else in the industry is making this type of investment, this type of commitment to building more and better equipment," said Robert Bohn, chairman, president and CEO of Oshkosh Truck Corp. "It's a really fine example of the growth Pierce has built during the 10 years it has been part of Oshkosh Truck Corp."
