Pierce displayed several new configurations for its PUC pumper body at FDIC in April.

The expanded PUC line now includes a side, top-mounted pump panel with access steps to give the operator better visibility and a safer working position. According to Pierce, the top-mount pump panel still allows wheelbases that are 36 to 48 inches shorter than others.

The PUC body configuration also may be specified with a 75-foot aluminum aerial ladder that may be specified with wheelbases up to 5 inches shorter than others. The design also provides storage for bulky items such as Stokes baskets and backboards.

Finally, the PUC body may be specified on a cost-effective custom Contender chassis that features a redesigned cab with more interior space.

“The expanded PUC product line gives firefighters additional options in selecting a truck that meets the specific needs of their department without making compromises,” said Pierce President Wilson Jones. “We took a design that revolutionized the industry when it was launched in April 2007, and due to its success and industry demand now have it available in a variety of configurations to meet the needs of our customers, no matter the application.”
