NTEA Releases New Ambulance Standards

The Ambulance Manufacturers Division of the National Truck Equipment Association worked with the General Services Administration to revise and expand the AMD standards. The result are AMD standards 001 through 025, which are to be used in conjunction with the federal specification for the Star-of-Life Ambulance KKK-A-1822F standard when specifying ambulances.

Highlights of the changes include 10 new AMD standards and numerous changes to the 15 existing standards. The new standards 016 through 025 cover testing guidelines for patient-compartment lighting levels, road tests, floor distributed loads, cold-engine starting, perimeter illumination and several other areas.

To download a copy of the AMD standards, go to http://www.ntea.com and click on AMD 001-015 for the revised old standards and AMD 016-025 for the new, additional standards.
