Although departments with their own shops should have complete maintenance manuals for all their apparatus and equipment, the basic owners manuals can provide valuable maintenance information as well. For example, the owners manual for Cummins ISC, ISCe, and ISL engines (Bulletin 4021427) contains information on periodic maintenance schedules and oil drain intervals, as well as specifications for coolant/antifreeze, oils, fuels and filters. It also contains a list of all applicable service literature including troubleshooting and repair manuals, wiring diagrams, fault codes and others.
