Lamar County, Miss., has contracted Ferrara Fire Apparatus to build 10 new, heavy-duty extruded aluminum rescue pumpers on International 4400 chassis. The trucks will have left- and right-side full-height rescue-style bodies, 1250-gpm pumps with top mount controls, 1,000-gallon tanks and a Class A foam system. Located in south central Mississippi, Lamar County’s 11 volunteer fire stations serve 40,000-plus residents.
Further north in central Mississippi, Yazoo County has ordered seven new heavy-duty, extruded aluminum pumpers from Ferrara. All will be built on Freightliner chassis and will have 1,250-gpm pumps with top-mount controls, 1,250-gallon tanks and left-side full-height rescue-style compartments. Yazoo County provides emergency services to a population of over 30,000 people.
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Fire Department has ordered four custom-made pumpers from Ferrara Fire Apparatus. All will be built on Ferrara’s Igniter XD heavy duty custom chassis. The purchase is part of a multi-year contract between the company and the Oklahoma City. It marks the first time that the OCFD has bought Ferrara vehicles. The department operates 35 fire stations covering more than 500,000 residents. It responds to approximately 70,000 calls each year.
