Kussmaul Electronics has introduced its Auto Charge SD automatic battery charger with several new features.

The Auto Charge SD is a high-output battery charger with an automatic boost feature, self diagnostics and remote electronic voltage sensing. It is designed to rapidly recharge multiple batteries found in modern emergency vehicles.

In operation, the charger raises the output voltage for one hour to reduce the time required to charge the batteries and to rejuvenate the internal battery plates. After the initial charge period, the charger automatically switches to a normal mode. Integral sensors monitor the charger temperature and voltage output to prevent damage to the charger and batteries and to warn the operator. A remote bar-graph display unit indicates the output voltage and current.
