Kenworth Offers Cat Engines
Customers now can specify the Caterpillar C9 engine in the Kenworth T800 heavy-duty commercial truck chassis, including the popular short hood and front-engine power takeoff configurations of this model.
The C9 engine will be available in ratings of 335hp with 1,150 foot-pounds peak torque and 350hp with 1,250 foot-pounds peak torque. It is a 9.3-liter, inline, six-cylinder diesel engine that weighs as much as 1,000 pounds less than other engines with these power and torque ratings.
The Kenworth T800 chassis is designed for rugged vocational jobs and can be specified for tanker, pumper/tanker and heavy rescue applications in the fire service.
