What do you think is the biggest change in the industry?
I currently see is the affect of NFPA 1851 and the positive trend toward departments conducting risk assessments to determine the fabrics/materials/and design features required for proper protection with their personal protective equipment. The conditions that firefighters encounter change from department to department and it is critical to safety and performance that they are being outfitted with the right equipment for their needs.”
What emerging issue should chiefs be aware of?
Compliancy with NFPA 1851’s care and maintenance portion can become a cumbersome task to tackle. Beginning with a detailed action plan will help avoid unforeseen costs and stress. Verified ISP’s and clothing manufacturers have a lot of knowledge from helping other departments and can be a great resource.”
What is the best advice you've received?

How to you like to de-stress?
I help coach a soccer team and really enjoy working with the kids and watching them progress as people and players.
