ISO Considers Revised Ratings

The Insurance Services Office is considering several changes to its Fire Suppression Rating Schedule. Some of the changes will affect apparatus and equipment used for firefighting.

Among the proposed changes include using the NFPA 1901 apparatus standard to define the required loose equipment on engines, aerials and service vehicles. Other changes may involve giving points for code enforcement and safety education, as well as credit for certain improvements in water systems and communications.
