Ford Offers Mobile Office Option
A computer-based mobile office option will be available on Ford’s F-Series models starting early this year. The mobile office is designed to provide full computer and communication capabilities within the cab.
The system is based on a handheld tablet personal computer made by Stargate Mobile that operates with Microsoft Windows XP. It includes an integrated GPS receiver equipped with Microsoft Streets and Trips software to act as navigation system. The system also includes the full Microsoft Office Suite with Outlook e-mail, PowerPoint presentation and Excel spreadsheet software.
Users can install portable printers, digital cameras and other related peripherals via USB ports. A cellular modem card allows wireless communications over a choice of networks.
The Ford Mobile Office system will be installed by Ford dealers and includes a mounting system that attaches to the floor hump over the transmission for easy access and operation from the driver's seat.
