Florida Names EVT of the Year

In a ceremony at the recent Fire-Rescue East Conference in Jacksonville, Fla., Victor Goizueta of the Coral Gables Fire Department was named the Florida EVT of the Year for 2005.

Goizueta has been a fire equipment mechanic with the Coral Gables Automotive Department for 20 years and has been on the board of directors of the Florida Association of Emergency Vehicle Technicians for the past 2 years. He holds numerous master mechanic certifications.

In addition to his work as an equipment mechanic, Goizueta helps specify new apparatus for the department and works with apparatus manufacturers to ensure they meet the specifications. He is also part of the city's emergency response team and made significant contributions in keeping critical emergency generators running during the recent hurricane season.

The staff of FIRE CHIEF and In Service Online congratulate Victor Goizueta on his selection as Florida's 2005 EVT of the Year.
