Florida EVT Academy Scores Another Success

The National Emergency Vehicle Technician Training Academy in Daytona Beach, Fla., in May attracted more than 150 students for a week of classes and activities.

The academy provides instruction on a wide variety of subjects, as well as hands-on opportunities to practice maintenance skills. This year, students removed a pump from a vehicle, rebuilt it according to the manufacturer’s specs, then re-installed and tested it to verify performance.

The academy banquet was held at the Daytona 500 Club on the infield of the famous Daytona Speedway. Steve Wilde of the Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification Commission was the guest speaker.

At the close of classes, 119 technicians took more than 170 EVTCC certification and re-certification classes to expand and maintain their skill levels.
