The Emergency Vehicle Certification Commission announced two new certification tracks and a new advanced level exam.

The new Law Enforcement Vehicle Technician Track covers basic definitions, electrical theory, and familiarization with typical auxiliary equipment.

The new Fleet Management Track is divided into leadman, foreman and fleet manager levels, with certification requirements for each. The leadman level is currently being offered, with plans to offer the other two in the near future.

In addition, EVTCC now offers FA-4, an optional certification test in the fire apparatus track that covers Advanced Electrical Systems.

The new certification tests will be offered starting with the National EVTCC Test on Oct. 16. For more information call the EVTCC at 847-426-4075 or e-mail evtcert@evtcc.org.

Raydan Manufacturing Inc. announced that their Air Link tandem-axle suspension has been retrofitted on a 2004 GM C8500 truck and will be shown across Canada for demonstration drives during the coming year. According to the manufacturer, the Air Link system offers high roll stability, smooth ride and low maintenance. It's available in rear-axle weight ratings of 34,000 pounds to 75,000 pounds. This compact, PTO pump has flow ratings of 750gpm to 1,000gpm and is designed for tankers and other applications where high flows are needed from a small package.
